Lou and Peter Berryman have spread their music through 12 recordings and hundreds of performances on both coasts, the Midwest, Texas and Canada. They win new fans everywhere they go. And the old fans? They keep coming to hear the new songs and to watch the astonished reaction of the folks hearing this delightful duo for the first time.
"For our entire lives we've wanted to make a living that didn't entail getting dressed up and taking the bus to work everyday," Lou added with a satisfied laugh, "and we've been working ever since we were teenagers at developing some sort of art."
It's the typical story: boy meets girl in high school, they play in folk bands, they marry and move to Canada for five years, move back, divorce and form a fresh guitar/accordion duo producing songs that are being sung by amateurs and professionals all over the world. OK, perhaps it's not typical. But then there is very little that is conventional about Lou and Peter Berryman.
Their lives together have taken them from the high school prom to the Kennedy Center on a path filled with friendship, hardship and creative drive. Their songwriting style is a welcomed throwback to the days of Tin Pan Alley, where one wrote the words, the other the music, and all with complete devotion to the craft. But where the songsmiths of the'30s and '40s spent most of their time saying 'I love you' in 32 bars over and over again, Lou and Peter have redefined subject and device when it comes to the craft of composing songs. Their unusual take on the world has lead to creations that are unlike any others. They are admired by, not only thousands of music fans, but by some of our greatest living songwriters. With Peter on guitar, and Lou on the five-string banjo, they played in a variety of folk bands in high school. Influenced by the recorded rejects from the radio station where Peter's mom worked, the teenaged musicians gobbled up the likes of Woody Guthrie, The Weavers and Jimmy Driftwood. Lou even recalls the time Peter and another friend drove 30 miles to Oshkosh to hear Josh White. This early exposure to folk and blues continues to inspire them to this day.

One of life'sgreat mysteries is why this amazing singer/songwriter isn't the HUGE pop star he deserves to be. It is an honor to have him here, to hear him sing and to call him friend.YOU WILL LOVE HIM (KW).
One of the most important things in music (and in life) is heart ... John McVey has that in spades. As a singer/songwriter, John has won national awards and thoroughly entertained audiences and listeners all over the world. His songwriting craft is recognized as among the best in the acoustic music world. His rhythmic guitar playing and soulful voice extract every possible bit of meaning from a song. Now he has added producer and engineer to his list of talents. In this realm he's as comfortable and innovative as on stage. And his heart comes through there as well. |

This show is a blast! It is an In the Round performance by Doug Clegg and some of his good pals: Kate Wallace (www.katewallace.com , Michael Dewberry (www.dewberrymusic.com) and several guests in the "Pilgrim Chair."
It is a benefit show-- this year for Estrella del Sur,a grass roots organization that is bringing Waldorf trained teaching methods to villages in the Andes, and traiing the parents in a variety of crafts, so that the children can be removed from virtual indentured slavery, working for families in cities like Cuzco, because they have no other future to consider.
These fine singer/songwriters are donating their time and talent, and will play songs of the season and songs of teh heart-- there will be the usual FABULOUS baked goods as well as coffee, tea & hot cider.
It's a great way to celebrate the holiday season in a low key, non commercial way-- wonderful music and money toward a good cause. |

"Richard Berman is one of the most gifted songwriters I have ever met. With a wry sense of humor, and topics most writers don't dare approach, he weaves through musical genres with a master's touch. Richard's songs defy labels like folk or pop-- they are simply songs you must hear for yourself." Tom Prasada-Rao |

| “ L.A.based singer/songwriter Larry John Mc Nally is a masterful songwriter, penning songs in a bluesy, deep cloudy motif. His song, Nobody’s Girl, was recorded by Bonnie Raitt on her Nick of Time CD. Akin toa bluesy more more moody Jim Croce, McNally moves you through his songsat a tempo used on a front porch in the south during a heat wave.” Robert Curtis, Folk Web |

These four fine singer songwriters will perform an "IN THE ROUND COVER NIGHT" (back by SUCH OVERWHELMING DEMAND), Nashville style. We have had SO many great comments about this format, that when Louise Taylor, our August artist had to cancel, we were BEGGED to do this again. So here we go. We all know by now what great writers these guys are-- so the fun part will be that each artist will play songs by other, possibly more famous artists that they love in the hope that the crowd will join in. This will NOT be Kumbaya.... more like, say, Knocking on Heaven's Door.

Doug Clegg, Kate Wallace, James McVay and Peter Gallway are local award -winning singer/songwriters. Twice a year, Trinity Backstage presents these fine artists (as well as a few of their friends in the "pilgrim chair") by popular demand. Each has spent a multitude of years in music capitals writing songs, making recordings, producing other artists' recordings and each is well respected by their peers throughout the country. It's like four for the price of one. This weekend is generally Solstice Parade weekend in Santa Barbara and maybe it's just that these four still have some energy left when the confetti has hit the pavement for the last time....This is an in-the-round performance--not often presented in Santa Barbara so you won't want to miss it. |

All of that will bring you to this record, but it's Rhody's heart-stopping songs and uncluttered playing that will grip you and make you stick around. And fall in love." --Performing Songwriter Magazine |

Eric Taylor is one of the few artists who has a greatness that wreathes about him as he takes the stage, no matter what size the venue. An audience instinctively knows to shut up and pay attention. This is a man who takes the art of songwriting – and the art of performance – seriously. And, at the end of the set, the audience will have been transported some place and back again. Eric Taylor doesn’t just make you feel the sun and taste the dust of Texas, he takes you places and puts you inside people’s minds. From prison inmates trying to fathom the jumble of their lives to little kids watching their family implode, Eric Taylor makes it real. Aspiring – and accomplished – songwriters leave Eric Taylor shows shaking their heads in awe. And well they should.
